Raising capital from corporate real estate - JLL Belgium
2020 was a record year for occupier disposals of owned real estate across a wide range of sectors. In the EMEA region alone, disposals of corporate and owner-occupied properties raised €27bn across more than 580 transactions. Our new report provides a breakdown of disposals by asset types and geographies, as well as a high-level review of the context for this activity.
Our data covers all corporate real estate sales from surplus property to short and long-term sale and leasebacks and also looks at some of the different funding structures being used to deliver new facilities.
Last year’s record level of disposals is particularly noteworthy given the context of the global pandemic. 2020 was also the third consecutive year in which the total value of corporate disposals exceeded €20bn. Business sectors adversely impacted by the pandemic saw increased activity. Offices, retail and industrial properties continued to be the most active sectors, accounting for 80% of the total value of asset sales in EMEA.
